Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Acerstone collects when you use our website and platform, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

Who we are

Acerstone runs a platform where vetted experts build a profile and a knowledge base, get matched to client projects, and take part in expert communities. In this policy, "Acerstone", "we" and "us" mean the company that operates the platform, and "you" means anyone who visits our website or uses the platform.

Acerstone is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Where a client engages an expert through Acerstone, the client is separately responsible for anything it does with information the expert shares with it directly.

Information we collect

We collect information you give us, information we receive when you connect another account, information created when you use our features, and limited technical information.

  • Account details: your name, email address and profile photo, entered by you or received from LinkedIn or Google when you sign in with them.
  • Profile details: your skills, services, experience, education, certifications, portfolio, case studies, rates, availability and anything else you add to your expert profile.
  • LinkedIn import: if you choose to import from LinkedIn, the positions, education, certifications, skills and other profile sections LinkedIn shares with us after you authorise it.
  • Voice interview: if you take the AI interview after onboarding, the audio of the conversation, its transcript and summary, and the structured information drawn from it.
  • Knowledge base: the expertise areas, viewpoints, answers, examples and limits recorded in your knowledge base, whether you add them yourself or they come from your interview or calls, together with your decisions to approve, edit or withhold each item.
  • Calls: when you book a call through Acerstone, the time, participants, joining link and any notes you add. Calls held on Cal Video may be recorded and transcribed (see "Recorded and transcribed calls" below).
  • Messages and communities: the direct messages you send and receive, posts and replies in communities you join, people you block, and reports you make or that are made about content you posted.
  • Support messages: what you send us when you contact support, including attachments.
  • Usage and device information: pages you visit, actions you take in the product, approximate location derived from your IP address, and basic browser and device details.

How we use your information

  • To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
  • To build your expert profile and show it to clients and other members.
  • To vet experts, including automated review of your answers and profile by AI models, followed by our own decision.
  • To build and maintain your knowledge base, and to power your digital twin if you switch it on (see "AI features" below).
  • To match you to projects that fit your skills and to contact you about them.
  • To arrange and remind you of calls, deliver messages and notifications, and run projects.
  • To keep the platform safe: preventing abuse and fraud, enforcing our Terms of Service and reviewing reported content.
  • To answer support requests and send you service messages about your account.
  • To understand how Acerstone is used so we can fix problems and improve it.
  • To comply with legal obligations and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to show you third-party advertising.

AI features

Acerstone uses AI models to help build and use your knowledge base. Specifically, AI is used to conduct the voice interview, to draw structured knowledge from interview and call transcripts, to review vetting answers, and to answer questions in your place through your digital twin.

Items the AI draws out arrive in your knowledge base for your review and stay private until you approve them. Your digital twin answers only from items you have approved and switched on for it; it does not use items you mark confidential. You can switch the twin off, or remove any item from it, at any time.

We send our AI providers only the information needed for each task.

Recorded and transcribed calls

Calls booked through Acerstone take place on Cal Video. These calls may be recorded and transcribed automatically, and the booking page tells you so before you book. Transcripts may be used to add to your knowledge base, subject to your review as described above.

If you do not want a call recorded or transcribed, tell the host at the start of the call or email us before it. You can ask us to delete a recording or transcript at any time.

Who we share it with

  • Clients and other members, who can see the profile and the knowledge-base items you choose to publish. Your public profile page can be viewed by anyone with the link.
  • People you message or who are in a community with you, who can see what you post there.
  • Service providers that run parts of Acerstone for us, acting on our instructions and only to provide their service. The categories, with the providers we currently use, are listed below.
  • LinkedIn and Google, when you choose to sign in or import with them. Their own privacy policies apply to what they collect.
  • Authorities or other parties when the law requires it, or when needed to protect the rights, property and safety of Acerstone, our members or the public.
  • A successor, if Acerstone is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. We will tell you before your information becomes subject to a different policy.

Cookies and local storage

Acerstone stores a sign-in token and your display preferences in your browser so you stay signed in and the product looks the way you set it. We also record page views and product events, using our own analytics, to measure usage. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

You can clear this storage in your browser settings at any time. Doing so signs you out.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your account is open. When you close your account we delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we need to keep it to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations, to resolve disputes or to enforce our agreements.

Messages you sent may remain visible to the people you sent them to. Content removed for breaking our rules may be kept for a limited time so reports can be reviewed.

Your choices and rights

  • See and edit your profile and knowledge base at any time from your account.
  • Approve, edit, withhold or remove any item in your knowledge base, and switch your digital twin on or off.
  • Ask us to remove data you imported from LinkedIn, or a recording or transcript of a call.
  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct or delete your personal information, or to close your account.
  • Tell us if you do not want to receive non-essential emails.

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law, such as the right to object to or restrict certain processing, to data portability, and to complain to your data protection authority. To make any request, email support@acerstone.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on it, and we will respond within the time the law requires.

Security

We protect your information with measures including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, signed sign-in tokens, verified webhooks from our providers, rate limits and access restricted to the people who need it. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Tell us straight away if you think your account has been accessed without your permission.

International transfers

Acerstone and its service providers may process your information in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States. Where we transfer information across borders, we rely on the safeguards applicable law provides for, such as the data protection terms we have in place with our providers, so that it stays protected as described in this policy.

Children

Acerstone is for working professionals. It is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Acerstone changes. If a change is significant we will tell you by email or in the product before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
